Ecstasy

Effects

Immediate Effects

LSD effects a person physically, psychologically, and sensory. Physically, most people experience pupil dilation, reduction in appetite, and wakefulness. Many of the other reactions are variable from person to person, but include numbness, weakness, nausea, elevated blood sugar, goose bumps, increased heart rate, perspiration, increase in saliva and mucus production, and body tremors.
Psychologically, the most common results are visual hallucinations and illusions that can vary greatly depending on the amount used and how the brain reacts to it. This are referred to as “trips” and can either be good or bad depending on the individuals’ emotional status at the time or most recent emotions experienced. During a good trip, a person can have the feeling of floating, euphoric emotions, a belief of mental clarity, and overall pleasurable experience. Bad trips can produce intense negative emotions, like fear and anxiety, paranoia, intrusive thoughts of hopelessness, mood swings, and the desire to hurt themselves or others. It is impossible to predict when a bad trip will occur, but measures to prevent a bad trip, such as being in a happy state of mind and tripping with a friend, can help reduce the risk.
Sensory effects include those produced visually, as well as animated sensory experiences of the sense, emotions, memories, time, and general awareness. Changes in auditory and visual perception are typical, and can result in normal static objects to appear to be moving in one or more additional spatial dimensions. The auditory effects include an echo like distortion, and a general intensification of music experiences.

Dangerous Side Effect

The most significant adverse effect is impairment of mental functioning while intoxicated. As stated previously, a bad trip can create feelings of extreme anxiety or even invoke panic attacks. In a healthy mind, LSD can play a role in precipitating the onset of acute psychosis. In those who already suffer from a mental disorder, or have family history of such like schizophrenia, there is a high likeliness of experiencing adverse effects from taking LSD. You can overdose on LSD and because it is absorbed rather quickly, emptying the stomach after consumption will have little effect unless it is done within the first 30-60 minutes of ingestion.

Positive Side Effects

LSD is not addictive, and of the 20 rankked dangerous drugs, it is listed as number 17. This is below alchohol, and is only 1/10th as harmful. LSD has not currently been approved in use for medicine, but studies are underway. For more information, follow this link.
